Master
of Business Administration (MBA)
This
Master of Business Administration degree is specifically designed to give
business executives and qualified people from various professions in overseas
countries the opportunity to study the MBA in their own countries. It
is a degree offered by
overseas institutions/universities in
association with NAIST. The MBA
program covers a broad range of administrative and management skills and
provides participants with a sound understanding of the role, scope, concepts,
principles and theories of Administration and Management. It also provides
participants with advanced knowledge and conceptual skills that are essential
for managerial and administrative functions. The required 12 units for
this MBA course are designed to be completed in 2 stages (Stage 1 – Graduate
Diploma of Business Administration and Management; Stage 2 – final units
for the MBA).
Specializations: Students who
include unit “MBS 780 Research Project in a Specialized Area” as one of
their MBA units can specialize in any of the following areas: General
Management; Human Resource Management; Marketing; Finance; International
Business; International Marketing; Education Administration; Internet
Marketing; Hospital Administration; Health Care Management; Art and Design Management; Logistic
Management; Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Stage
1:
GRADUATE
DIPLOMA OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT: The
Graduate Diploma of Business Administration and Management is the first
stage of the MBA program. To be awarded the Graduate Diploma of Business
Administration and Management, students must study the following 8 units
and successfully pass at least 6 out of the 8 units. However, students
who wish to proceed to the second stage of this MBA program or who
wish to do their MBA in the U.K. or in other institutions must obtain
reasonable results in all the 8 units.

NOTE: Students who are not fluent in English must pass unit GDBA 506

plus 7 of the above units.
Mode
of Study: The various
modes of study available for this program are:
Full
time - Overseas students who study 3 or 4 units per semester and receive
tutorial and lecture support classes in their countries and attend revision
classes either in their own country or abroad are classified as full time
students.
Part
time - Students who study 1 or 2 units per semester and receive tutorial
and lecture support classes in their countries and attend revision classes
either in their own country or abroad are classified as full time students.
Distance
Learning - Students who study the course purely by distance learning without
receiving tutorial and lecture support classes and without attending revision
classes either in their own country or abroad are classified as Distance
Learning students.
Teaching Methods: Students are provided with course outline/syllabus
and are directed to relevant reading material. They are also provided
with optional lecture/tutorial support classes. Towards the end of the
semester, students may be required to attend compulsory revision classes
prior to the examinations either in their own country or abroad. Prior
to attending the revision classes, students will receive tutorial/lecture
support classes in their countries provided by overseas universities/institutions
that are delivering the program in association with NAIST.
Unit
Assessment Procedure: Most of the units will be assessed
on the basis of course work and final examination. Students can
sit for their examinations in almost any part of the world.
Entry
Requirements: Admission to this first stage of this MBA program is open
to anyone with a recognized Bachelor degree or an Advanced Diploma in any
discipline.
Pathway
to Further Study: Students who complete this Graduate Diploma can
proceed to study the 2nd Year of of this joint MBA. They can also be accepted
into the Master degree program in a UK University.
Stage
2:
MASTER
OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (FINAL STAGE):
The second stage of this Master of Business Administration requires satisfactory
completion of 4 of the following units.

NOTE: Students
who include unit “MBS 780 Research Project in a Specialized Area” as
one of their MBA units can specialize in any of the following areas:

Entry
Requirements: Admission to this final stage of this MBA program
is open to anyone with a recognized Bachelor degree or an Advanced Diploma
in any discipline plus a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration
and Management. Students without a Graduate Diploma who hold a
recognized Bachelor degree or a recognized Advanced Diploma will be
accepted into the first year study of the MBA program.
Recognition:
Since
this MBA degree program run by overseas institutions in association with NAIST is not designed
for the Australian market, it is not
accredited in Australia. Rather,
this high quality MBA degree program is specifically
designed for overseas business executives
studying in their own countries and is offered by overseas institutions/universities
in association
with NAIST. As
this MBA course is not designed for the Australian market, it cannot be used for the purpose of obtaining
Permanent Resident status or Citizenship in Australia.
Students who
complete Stage 1 this MBA (i.e. the Graduate Diploma) who have a recognized
Bachelor degree will qualify for entry into an MBA program at Robert
Gordon University, Faculty of Management, Aberdeen Business School in
the UK. The requirements of GMAT and TOEF for entry into the Lancaster
University's MBA program in the UK will be waived for students who successfully
complete the Graduate Diploma who also achieve a mark of 70%+ (Good level
of achievement) in the Graduate Diploma course.
Teaching
Methods: Students are provided with course outline/syllabus
and are directed to relevant reading material. They are also provided
with optional lecture/tutorial support classes. Towards the end of the
semester, students may be required to attend compulsory revision classes
(for about 1 week) prior to the examinations either in their own country
or abroad. During the one week revision classes students
may be required to give an oral presentation of their written projects
( MBS 780 Research Project in a Specialized Area). Prior to attending
the revision classes, students will receive tutorial/lecture support
classes in their countries provided by overseas universities/institutions
that are delivering the program in association with NAIST.
Course
Duration and Enrolment Periods: This MBA course may be completed
in 2–4 semesters or in 1–2 years depending on the number of Units
taken per semester. Each year is divided into 4 semesters
and each semester is 12 weeks duration. Students can commence
study in the 1st week of March, June, September or December of every
year.
Unit
Assessment Procedure: Most of the units will be assessed
on the basis of course work and final examination. Students can
sit for their examinations in almost any part of the world.
Tuition
Fees: Tuition fees are set by the overseas local institution in
consultation with NAIST but should normally not exceed five thousand
and five hundred Australian dollars (AUD5, 500) for students studying
the Graduate Diploma course which is the 1st year of the MBA program
. The fee for the second year (which is the final year of the MBA program)
should normally not exceed four thousand Australian dollars (AUD4, 000).
Scholarships and/or subsidies are also available to students depending
on their circumstances and academic record.
